Our Approach

How Every Seruan Finance Course is Structured

Each course follows a consistent rhythm: a short weekly reading or case study, followed by a live discussion session with the instructor and cohort. Sessions run for approximately ninety minutes and are designed to allow genuine questions, not just comprehension checks.

Participants keep a course notebook and are encouraged to record questions between sessions. The instructor reviews these before each meeting and addresses them alongside the prepared material. This means the pace adapts to where the cohort actually is — not where an abstract participant profile might be.

Every course concludes with a personal document created by each participant with the instructor's guidance. This document forms the practical outcome of the course and is designed for continued use beyond the final session.

Weekly Reading

A short text, case study, or data document sent before each session.

Live Discussion

Ninety-minute session with instructor and cohort — in person or online.

Participant Notes

A personal notebook kept throughout — reviewed by the instructor between sessions.

Final Document

A written personal reference completed in the final session and kept by the participant.

An unhurried introductory course for learners in their forties and older opening a careful first look at personal finance. Topics include the personal balance sheet, household cash flow, CPF account overview, and an initial view of investment categories. The pace is deliberately slow and assumes no prior study.

Each participant finishes the course with a personal summary document held for their own records. Suitable for those returning to the topic after years of other priorities.

What the Course Covers

  • Personal balance sheet construction and interpretation
  • Household cash flow analysis
  • CPF Ordinary, Special, MediSave, and Retirement Account overview
  • First view of investment categories available in Singapore
  • Personal finance summary document (kept by participant)
