The Advantages of Learning with Seruan Finance

Paced for Real Life

Courses run over multiple weeks to allow the material time to settle alongside a working adult's existing schedule and responsibilities.

Built for Singapore

Every detail — CPF structures, SGX instruments, SRS rules, Singapore Savings Bonds — is taken from Singapore's own financial landscape, not adapted from overseas material.

No Commercial Interests

We do not sell investment products or accept commissions. Our only financial relationship with participants is the course fee, clearly stated in advance.

Written Deliverables

Each course ends with a personal document — a balance sheet summary, an income plan, or a retirement folder — that participants retain and refer to in the years following the course.

Small, Attentive Cohorts

Cohorts are capped at twelve participants. This keeps every session a genuine discussion rather than a presentation, and allows each participant to raise questions fully.

Instructors with Field Experience

Our instructors have worked in financial planning and analysis roles before moving into education. Their teaching draws on practical knowledge of how decisions play out over time.

Professional Expertise

The Seruan Finance curriculum was developed by educators who had previously worked within Singapore's financial services sector. This means the course material is not a second-hand interpretation of public information; it reflects direct familiarity with how CPF accounts work in practice, how SGX instruments are selected and held, and where the common difficulties in retirement planning actually arise.

Each instructor maintains their subject knowledge through continued reading and regular curriculum review. When regulations change — as they periodically do with CPF and SRS — the course content reflects those changes before the next cohort begins.

What This Means for You

Curriculum developed by practitioners, not generalists
Content updated following any relevant regulatory change
Questions answered with specific, grounded knowledge
No overseas frameworks substituted for Singapore-specific content

What This Means for You

Clear reading and discussion rhythm each week
Time to reconsider and ask questions before the next session
Course notes available after each session for review
Structured progress without pressure to rush ahead

A Considered Process

Seruan Finance courses follow a deliberate structure: a weekly reading or short text, followed by a live discussion session with the instructor and cohort. This rhythm allows material to be absorbed over days rather than hours, which is how most adults actually process new information alongside the demands of daily life.

The structure is not rigid. Instructors make room for questions that arrive from real experience — a recent CPF statement, a family discussion about retirement timing, a question about a Singapore Savings Bond allocation. The course moves through its content, but not at the expense of understanding.

Customer Service and Support

Participants can reach the Seruan Finance office by phone or email during business hours throughout the duration of their course. Questions that arise between sessions — about course materials, administrative matters, or logistical concerns — receive a substantive response within one working day.

We understand that many of our participants are fitting the course around careers, caregiving, or other commitments. When personal circumstances change mid-course, we take those situations seriously and address them individually.

What This Means for You

Direct access to the office during working hours
Response within one working day for all enquiries
Personal handling of mid-course scheduling concerns
No automated ticketing — a real person responds

What This Means for You

Fees stated clearly before enrolment — no additional charges
Course materials included in the course fee
No upselling during or after the course
Fees remain stable between cohorts of the same course

Value and Transparent Pricing

Course fees are stated clearly on the website: S$170 for the five-week introductory course, S$280 for seven weeks of income planning, and S$395 for the nine-week retirement planning course. There are no supplementary charges, no follow-on product sales, and no membership fees.

All course materials — the weekly readings, case studies, and the final personal document — are included in the stated fee. Participants know from the outset what they are paying and what they will receive.

Results and Outcomes

The measure of a financial education course is not how much material was covered — it is what participants are able to do differently afterwards. Seruan Finance courses are designed with that measure in mind. Every course ends with a practical document: a personal balance sheet, an income strategy, or a retirement plan, depending on which course was completed.

Participants regularly report that the CPF overview session was the first time they fully understood the relationship between their OA, SA, and RA balances. Others find the SRS drawdown module opens a conversation they had been deferring for years. The outcomes are practical, documented, and lasting.

What This Means for You

A written document at the end of every course
Clarity on decisions that were previously deferred
A foundation from which to consult a licensed adviser productively
Language and concepts to navigate financial conversations with confidence

Distinctive Features

What You Will Not Find Elsewhere

The Personal Reference Document

Each course produces a specific written document — tailored to the individual participant's situation — that serves as a lasting reference. This is not a certificate of completion; it is a practical document for continued use.

The Ledger Method

Seruan Finance courses are structured like a careful ledger: each session adds a column, and participants can see how the entries relate to one another over the duration of the course. Nothing is introduced and immediately abandoned.

Moderated Cohort Discussion

Unlike video courses or self-paced modules, Seruan Finance sessions include a live, moderated group discussion. The questions that come from other participants are often as informative as the instructor's prepared material.

Genuinely Product-Free

Many financial educators earn revenue from product referrals or introductions. Seruan Finance does not. Our only commercial relationship with participants is the stated course fee. There is no follow-on offer.
